Nunes drops BOMB: Carter Page was FBI informant in 2013! (Video)

(National SentinelDeep State: House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes confirmed on Saturday reports and rumors suggesting that one-time Trump campaign foreign policy advisor Carter Page was, for a time, an informant for the FBI.

In an interview with Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo, Nunes also said that after Page joined the Trump campaign, the FBI used him in order to gain access to other officials — essentially everyone within the president’s campaign that he came into contact with.

“We know now because it’s been declassified, we know that anyone who was talking to Carter Page was likely picked up by authorities,” Nunes, R-Calif., told Bartiromo.

According to prior reporting and revelations contained in the FISA memo that Nunes’ panel released earlier this month, the FBI sought a counterintelligence surveillance warrant against Page twice in 2016 — once in June and again in October.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court denied the first request — which is a rarity — but granted the second request after the FBI introduced an unsubstantiated document which has become known as the “Trump dossier” authored by former British spy Christopher Steele as evidence of possible espionage.

The FISA memo noted that the FBI did not inform the court that the dossier was a political opposition research document commissioned by DC firm Fusion GPS and paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign.

It’s not clear if the FBI told the FISC that Page was once an informant for the bureau.

“Carter Page is an interesting individual,” Nunes said. “But he’s also a guy who cooperated with the FBI back in 2013, they used him in a court case to say that the Russians actually didn’t even want to recruit [him]…look, I don’t agree with Carter Page on very much, but the guy shouldn’t have his emails and phone calls listened to and eavesdropped into.”

He also noted that Steele lied to the FBI, which is why Sens. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., of the Judiciary Committee have sent the Justice Department a criminal referral to have him investigated.

Whiny Adam Schiff MELTS DOWN after Trump refuses to release Dems BOGUS FISA counter-memo

(National SentinelHissy Fit: House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff, D-Calif., blasted President Donald J. Trump on Friday after the commander-in-chief refused to authorize the release of a memo Democrats on the committee produced in response to last week’s explosive FISA memo.

“After ignoring urging of FBI & DOJ not to release misleading Nunes memo because it omits material facts, @POTUS now expresses concerns over sharing precisely those facts with public and seeks to send it back to the same Majority that produced the flawed Nunes memo to begin with,” Schiff said in a tweet accompanied by a statement.

The statement runs counter to virtually every revelation in the GOP-drafted FISA memo, which documented serial abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court by members of the FBI in obtaining a warrant to spy on minor Trump campaign figure Carter Page.

The memo noted that the FBI used a dossier written by former British spy Christopher Steele that was based on salacious and erroneous information provided him by Russian government sources.

The FBI failed to properly vet the dossier when applying for the surveillance warrant for Page. The FISA memo also notes that the dossier was the principal evidence used to obtain the warrant.

In his statement, Schiff called the Republican-drafted FISA memo “flawed” and a “misleading attack on law enforcement by the GOP.”

“We hope this matter can be quickly resolved so the committee can return to its charge — fully investigating the Russian interference in our election and the role of the Trump campaign, and what steps need to be taken to protect against foreign interference in the next election, now only months away,” said Schiff’s statement.

knife

In a letter to White House counsel Don McGhan, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray said both of them had serious security concerns about the Democratic response memo.

https://twitter.com/ali/status/962151729788682240

The objections by Rosenstein and Wray were what led the president to decide to return the memo to the House Intelligence Committee for changes.

Some of Schiff’s critics have said he intentionally included classified information in the Democrats’ memo just so Trump would reject it and give him and friendly media a talking point that the president and Republicans are being partisan.

Hannity warns: ‘Just a SLIVER’ of DEEP STATE corruption has come out so far (Video)

(National SentinelSwamp Creatures: Fox News host Sean Hannity said during his Friday night program that a crescendo of information regarding Obama-era corruption in the FBI, Justice Department and other federal agencies is coming and that only a “sliver” of information has been released thus far.

“Like we’ve been telling you, sit tight. If you think this is bad right now I promise you it’s going to only get worse,” he said.

“What we have now is a sliver of the information. It’s coming out day by day. I’ve been warning you from the beginning this is Watergate on steroids. And as you can see this gets more corrupt by the day,” the Fox News star noted.

Legacy Food Storage

Referencing the revelations contained in the House Intelligence Committee’s explosive FISA memo, Hannity reminded viewers that “this whole thing starts with Hillary Clinton, remember, rigging the [Democratic] primary against [Sen.] Bernie Sanders. Why more Bernie people aren’t mad, I don’t know.”

Continuing, Hannity said:

Then she tried to rig the general election against Donald Trump. She paid for a phony Russian propaganda dossier filled with Russian government lies and propaganda…the FBI then takes that bought-and-paid-for dossier; they don’t tell the FISA judge the truth, to go out and get a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign before the election…

DiGenova: Memo 2.0 proves SOMEONE in Obama’s State Dept. helped feed false info to FBI; ‘Somebody’s going to have to go to PRISON’ (Video)

(National SentinelIndictments: Former U.S. attorney Joe diGenova argued on Fox News‘ Laura Ingraham program Tuesday night that the newly released “memo 2.0” — a redacted version of an eight-page memo written by Sens. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and Lindsey Graham — proves someone in President Obama’s State Department fed the FBI false information through Trump dossier author Christopher Steele.

Part of that information was then used by the FBI to obtain surveillance warrants against a member of President Donald J. Trump’s campaign.

In his inteview, diGenova said such actions are likely illegal and that someone needs to be held legally responsible.

“The Grassley-Graham memo establishes beyond any doubt that the FBI knowingly deceived the FISA court about the information it was presenting to them, lied to them about the fact that it was verified information, which it was not — which the law requires,” he said.

“And now we know that additional Clinton allies, including Sidney Blumenthal, were involved in the transmission of false information, unverified information to the FBI through State Department officials. Somebody’s going to have to go to prison,” he declared.

Watch:

Also on Tuesday, Grassley released a “much-less redacted” version of this week’s criminal referral — also known as memo 2.0 — of former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.

On Monday, Grassley and Graham said that Steele compiled his anti-Trump dossier based on information provided him by a Hillary Clinton contact and Obama State Department official.

Investigative reporter Sara A. Carter noted further:

A new and highly redacted document released Monday by the Senate Judiciary Committee reveals that former British spy Christopher Steele, the man behind the unverified and controversial dossier, wrote an additional memo regarding alleged Russian collusion with President Donald Trump but that the information was largely based on information provided by allies of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

…[G]rassley sent a criminal referral regarding Steele’s involvement in the dossier to the Department of Justice referral January 4. The criminal referral confirms that allies of Clinton and the Obama administration were providing Steele with what they deemed damaging information on then candidate-elect Trump.

“One memorandum by Mr. Steele that was not published by Buzzfeed is dated October 19, 2016. The report alleges (redacted), as well as (redacted),” Memo 2.0 states. ”

FO-300x250-1

Mr. Steele’s memorandum states that his company ‘received this report from (redacted) U.S. State Department,’ that the report was the second in a series, and that the report was information that came from a foreign sub-source who ‘is in touch with (redacted) US State Department,’ that the report was the second in a series, and that the report was information that came from a sub-source who ‘is in touch with (redacted), a contact of (redacted) of (redacted) a friend of the Clintons, who passed it to (redacted).”

“I don’t take lightly making a referral for criminal investigation. But, as I would with any credible evidence of a crime unearthed in the course of our investigations, I feel obliged to pass that information along to the Justice Department for appropriate review,” Grassley said in a statement.

Hannity: Release of SECOND memo detailing MORE Obama-era CORRUPTION should ‘SCARE’ ALL Americans

(National SentinelPoliticals as Unusual: In a Tuesday op-ed for Fox News, host Sean Hannity expounded upon new revelations of Obama-era corruption tied to the “Trump dossier” and spying on the Trump campaign that he began during his network program Monday evening.

Hannity talked about a memorandum penned by the chairman and senior Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee — Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, respectively — in which they made a criminal referral to the FBI, requesting the bureau launch an investigation into former British spy Christopher Steele.

In their letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray early last month, the two senators said they wanted to know if the former MI6 agent was dishonest during his interactions with federal authorities.

In his op-ed, Hannity noted that the two senators “have released a heavily redacted, yet very revealing copy of their criminal referral against ex-British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the dubious dossier we now know was parlayed into a FISA warrant by Trump-hating operatives at the Justice Department.

“Grassley and Graham tell us that, while working on a second dossier for Clinton opposition research firm Fusion GPS, Steele was being fed information directly from the Obama State Department and from Clinton allies as well as his usual, sketchy Russian sources,” Hannity said.

“That’s right, teams Clinton and Obama were working with a foreign spy to undermine then-candidate Donald Trump,” he added.

Emergency Foods

“The Grassley-Graham memo goes on to say ‘it’s troubling enough that the Clinton campaign funded Mr. Steele’s work, but [worse] that these Clinton associates were contemporaneously feeding Mr. Steele’s allegations. It raises huge additional concerns about his credibility,'” Hannity wrote.

“The incestuous ties between Fusion, Steele, the Clinton campaign and the Obama Justice Department are alarming. Clinton hired Fusion, which hired Steele. Steele was working with the FBI at the same time. The wife of a top Justice Department official, Bruce Ohr, was hired by Fusion to work with Steele.

“You should be scared. And disgusted,” said the Fox News host.

“I don’t take lightly making a referral for criminal investigation. But, as I would with any credible evidence of a crime unearthed in the course of our investigations, I feel obliged to pass that information along to the Justice Department for appropriate review,” Grassley said in a statement in January.

Graham added that “after reviewing how Mr. Steele conducted himself in distributing information contained in the dossier and how many stop signs the DOJ ignored in its use of the dossier, I believe that a special counsel needs to review this matter.”

Steele was to appear in a London court to provide a long-requested deposition but, in the wake of the release of the House Intelligence Committee’s “FISA memo,” he did not show up.

Key Trump dossier figure Carter Page disputes MAJOR allegation in document; ‘NEVER met’ Russian figure

(National SentinelRussian Hoax: While most political and intelligence leaders are convinced that Russia attempted to disrupt the 2016 presidential election, many are far less certain Moscow “colluded” with the Trump campaign to do so.

A continued dearth of evidence is contributing to those doubts, and Carter Page, a key figure in the unproven “Trump dossier” put together by former British spy Christopher Steele, refuted yet another major claim made in the document on Monday night.

During an appearance on Fox News‘ “The Ingraham Angle” with Laura Ingraham, Page flatly denied he had ever met with a Russian government agent who allegedly offered him money in exchange for lifting sanctions, as the dossier asserts.

As reported by The Daily Caller:

Page, a former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser and subject of a FISA warrant that was sought after by the FBI due to claims made in the Steele dossier, said he had never met a Russian official named Igor Sechin, who, the dossier claims, supposedly offered Page billions of dollars in return for him pressuring the Trump administration to lift sanctions against Russia.

Earlier on Monday, Donald Trump Jr., told Fox News‘ Tucker Carlson that Page was never a major figure in his father’s campaign. During his interview with Ingraham, Page said that was accurate.

Later, Page stated unequivocally that he never met Sechin.

“You could tell that there were positive opportunities on the horizon in terms of U.S., Russia relations,” said Page.

“Was that Sechin? Was that Igor Sechin?” asked Ingraham.

“No, I’ve never met Sechin in my life,” Page responded.

The DC noted further:

Ingraham then read the paragraph in the dossier that details the alleged relationship between Page and Sechin, which claims that Sechin offered Page a significant stake in the state-owned Russian oil company Rosneft in exchange for Page’s confirmation that if elected president, Trump would lift sanctions on Russia.

Page said if that were true, the stake offered would have been worth billions of dollars.

Page’s denial is significant in that the recently-released FISA memo noted that the FBI relied in large part on the unverified dossier in order to obtain a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court so the bureau could spy on Page.

John Fund: FISA memo proves political establishment WEAPONIZED intelligence to HIDE massive scandals

(National SentinelPoliticized Intel: John Fund, the longtime columnist for National Review, noted this week that the so-called “FISA memo” released last week by the House Intelligence Committee documents how the political establishment under President Barack Obama sought to “bury scandals and avoid accountability” through overclassification.

“Leaving aside all of the hyperbole and smokescreens surrounding the Nunes memo, one indisputable fact stands out. Many leading Democrats asserted confidently that the memo would expose national-security information and damage the ability of our intelligence agencies to function,” Fund wrote.

“The memo released Friday — which did not have a single word redacted — clearly contained lots of information on intelligence-agency abuses. Here’s what it did not contain: secrets vital to national security,” he added.

Fund went on to point out that the FBI, Justice Department and leading Democrats all issued dire warnings over the memo’s release, claiming it would compromise national security and hurt the country:

Yet, just the day before the memo was released, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) sent a letter to House speaker Paul Ryan, (R., Wis.) warning of the damage that “dangerous partisanship” could do to the country if the memo were released. House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) called the memo “dangerous” and “illegitimate” and declared that the House Intelligence Committee had ignored warnings from the FBI and Justice Department and was behaving with a “dangerous irresponsibility and disregard for our national security.”

hacked-FO-300x250

The FBI issued a statement warning of “grave” consequences if the memo was released. So far, none of these players has since apologized for their misleading statements or explained why they made them.

All of this opens a broader issue: To what extent do our leaders seek to bury abuses, prevent accountability, and sweep embarrassing information under the rug by exaggerating national-security threats? To a great extent, I fear, and the ploy has become a “last refuge among scoundrels” — even more so than hyper-patriotism has become.

None of the dire predictions about harming national security have been borne out, however.

As we reported, the FISA Memo, which was released by the House Intelligence Committee, documented serial abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court involving the use of an unsubstantiated political document in order to obtain a warrant to spy on a member of the Trump campaign.

“The Nunes-memo episode should teach us that in future we should take the more hysterical claims of those who may have something to hide with a pillar of salt,” Fund wrote.

“Of course, we should scrupulously guard against unwarranted release of sensitive information,” he continued. “But we should also remember the words of Supreme Court (J)ustice Louis Brandeis who said, ‘Sunlight is the best disinfectant.’”

Gowdy: House Intel Committee ONLY looking at ‘maybe five’ FBI officials, NOT entire bureau (Video)

(National SentinelPolitical Motivations: Retiring South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy said on Sunday that the House Intelligence Committee, which he sits on, is not looking at the entire FBI for political abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Two days after the panel released the scandalous FISA memo detailing serial abuses of the court in politicized pursuit of a surveillance warrant to spy on a Trump campaign official, Gowdy hinted that the House committee may only be investigating as many as five FBI officials.

“I have tremendous respect for the bureau, there are 30,000 employees, let’s assume that there are five that engaged in conduct that we have questions about,” Gowdy said on CBS’ “Face The Nation” Sunday.

He also said that the partisan tone of the investigation has become a big problem, adding that he hopes the release of the four-page FISA memo is just a “one-off.”

“I hope this is a one-off, that Congress takes this position but also hope it’s a one-off that a [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] application contains errors and product that is funded by a political opponent. I hope that is a one-off,” he said.

That doesn’t appear to be the case, however. Multiple reports over the weekend suggest that more memos showing more politicized abuse by various government agencies under the Obama administration are forthcoming.

House Intel Committee could release FIVE MORE MEMOS exposing ‘politically motivated’ abuses by FBI, DOJ

(National SentinelFull Disclosure: Reports over the weekend noted that the House Intelligence Committee is preparing to release as many as five additional memos showing alleged legal abuses by some current and former ranking officials within the FBI and Justice Department.

The additional memos, were they to be released, follow the first “FISA memo” released on Friday detailing serious fraudulent activities in pursuit of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court warrant by the FBI and DOJ to spy on a member of the Trump campaign over alleged ties to Russia.

Axios reports that the House panel could publish up to five more reports outlining “politically motivated “wrongdoing” across different agencies, including the FBI, the broader Justice Department, and the State Department.”

The site noted:

What we’re hearing: Republicans close to Nunes say there could be as many as five additional memos or reports of “wrongdoing.” But a source on the House Intelligence Committee tells me there’s no current plan to use the same extraordinary and highly controversial process they just went through, with a vote and ultimately a presidential approval to declassify sensitive information.

“There are several areas of concern where federal agencies used government resources to try to create a narrative and influence the election. Some have suggested coordination with Hillary Clinton operatives, [Sydney] Blumenthal and [Cody] Shearer, to back up the false narrative,” one Republican member of Congress told Axios.

That coincides with earlier reporting by Fox News contributor and investigative journalist Sara A. Carter, who said Saturday that additional memos are on the way.

“Here’s what we know. There was a second dossier that was put together by a person named Cody Shearer. He is a very controversial activist, a former reporter who worked with the Clintons in the past,” she said.

“And the FBI was also using this second dossier as part of what they were doing to back up the other dossier by Christopher Steele, an unverified dossier. And we believe Christopher Steele was also sending information to the State Department in bits and snippets,” Carter noted further.

“But I think the most important thing here and one of the things they are going to be looking at very closely are the leaks. There were a number of leaks out unverified information by possibly senior members of the Obama administration,” she said.

GOP lawmaker: ‘Give us the FISA court TRANSCRIPTS’

(National SentinelDeep State: Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert will request that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., subpoena the transcripts from Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court hearings involving the discredited “Trump dossier.”

The request comes after Friday’s release of the so-called “FISA memo,” which detailed serial abuses by the Obama administration of the FISA court in order to secure a surveillance warrant to spy on a Trump campaign figure. The dossier factored heavily in securing those warrants, the memo claimed.

“I have prepared a letter that I plan to submit to and hopefully have other people sign on with me tomorrow on our Judiciary Committee we have a great Chairman [Bob Goodlatte] on our Judiciary Committee,” Gohmert told Fox News Sunday.

“He wants to get to the facts and what I’m asking him for is that we as the Judiciary Committee subpoena the transcripts from the FISA court hearings, the four different ones at least regarding the dossier…I want to hear everything that was said,” he added.

Specifically, Gohmert wants to know why the FISA court judge who granted the subpoenas — though the court was not told the dossier was a political, and not an intelligence, document — has not held the FBI and Justice Department officials who used it as the basis of their request in contempt.

Gohmert previously called for former FBI Director James Comey, former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and Justice Dept. official Bruce Ohr to be jailed for using what they knew to be a political document in order to secure a FISC warrant to allow the bureau to spy on the Trump campaign.

“I think it’s important to know who the FISA judge was, and why with all the info he’s had for some time, he has not put anyone in jail for committing fraud on his court,” Gohmert, who serves on the Committee on the Judiciary,” said.

Memo to Deep Statist John McCain: YOU are ‘helping Putin’ with this bogus ‘Russia collusion’ probe YOU HELPED START

analysis
By J. D. Heyes, editor-in-chief

(National SentinelAid and Abet: There is one thing we can deduce from Friday’s release of the infamous “FISA memo,” thanks to heroes and champions of government accountability and transparency in Congress and the White House: It’s now confirmed that the Obama administration was the most corrupt in the history of our country.

There’s no denying that, despite the fact that Democrats continue to do so and will continue to do so for as long as they draw a breath.

But they’re not the only enemies of government and political accountability. Not by a long shot. In fact, one of their best allies is in the U.S. Senate, and — technically speaking anyway — he’s not even a member of their party.

That would be Deep Statist Sen. John McCain, RINO-Arizona. Rather than cheer the release of the memo, which revealed serial abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court by upper echelon officials in the FBI and Justice Department to prevent Donald J. Trump from becoming president, and to undermine him after he defeated Hillary Clinton in November 2016, he criticized it.

“The latest attacks on the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests – no party’s, no president’s, only [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s,” McCain said in a statement. “Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the warped lens of politics and manufacturing partisan sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.”

Why would he do that? Well, for one, McCain is a #nevertrumper; ever since the president insulted his Vietnam service, most of which was spent in a brutal North Vietnamese prison, the senior Arizona senator has had it in for Trump. (Granted, Trump shouldn’t have done that, but lest we forget, McCain had already begun savaging his presidential bid, so our president — always the counter-puncher — hit back.)

For another, let’s not forget that McCain gave his Deep State buddy former FBI director James Comey a copy of the bogus “Trump dossier” — the same one that was misrepresented as “intelligence” and used to secure an October 2016 surveillance warrant from the FISA court so the bureau could spy on the Trump campaign.

As reported by The National Sentinel:

…[A]s many suspected, the discredited and unverified “Trump dossier” was used not once but on three separate occasions to secure a FISA court surveillance warrant to allow the Obama administration to spy on Team Trump during his campaign.

As Fox News added, the FISA memo also “includes testimony from a high-ranking government official who says without the infamous Trump dossier, the FBI and DOJ would not have secured surveillance warrants to spy on at least one member of the Trump team.”

The memo further pointed out that in December 2017, then-FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe testified that “no surveillance warrant would have been sought” from the FISA court “without the Steele dossier information.” (Related: SHAMELESS: No Democrats or left-leaning publishers denounce shocking abuses of power detailed in FISA memo release)

Think about that. McCain helped to enable the whole thing. McCain helped enable illegal spying on an American citizen — former Trump campaign foreign policy advisor Carter Page — by supplying the dossier to the FBI.

So Obama could spy on the presidential nominee of his own party.

“The ‘dossier’ compiled by Christopher Steele (Steele dossier) on behalf of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton campaign formed an essential part of the Carter Page FISA application,” the memo states.

“Steele was a longtime FBI source who was paid over $160,000 by the DNC and Clinton campaign, via the law firm Perkins Coie and research fir Fusion GPS, to obtain derogatory information on Donald Trump?s ties to Russia,” it continued.

How likely is it that McCain — still butt-hurt over Trump’s insult — didn’t know the dossier was a political document, that it was just opposition research and not actual intelligence?

In his statement, McCain claimed that releasing the memo was “helping Putin” to ‘undermine our democracy.” Actually, senator, saddling our president with fake charges of “Russian collusion” have helped Putin “undermine our democracy.”

Which means Deep Statists like you are helping the enemy — not Trump.

Left-wing HACK and former CIA official Phil Mudd threatens TRUMP on CNN: ‘We’re going to win!’

(National SentinelDeep State: Former CIA counterterrorism official Phil Mudd, now a contributor to CNN, told the network’s Wolf Blitzer Saturday that President Donald J. Trump’s decision to release the FISA memo was a mistake that is likely to cost him.

But cost him in what way, Mudd was less clear — except to essentially hurl yet another threat at the president.

“The workforce is going to look and this and say, this is an attack on our ability to conduct an investigation with integrity… The FBI people, I’m going to tell you, ‘are ticked’ and they’re going to be saying, I guarantee you, “You think you can push this off this?”… You better think again, Mr. President,” he said.

“You’ve been around for 13 months. We’ve been around since 1908. I know how this game is going to be played. We’re going to win!” Mudd declared.

Infowars editor-at-large Paul Joseph Watson took Mudd to task on Twitter.

“This is the same idiot who last year said of Trump on CNN ‘the government’s gonna kill this guy,'” he tweeted.

As for dates, the FBI was founded on July 26, 1908, but the CIA — the organization Mudd belonged to — was founded after World War II, in September 1947.

As for the FISA memo, it documents serial abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court by Obama administration appointees to illicitly obtain a surveillance warrant so they could spy on Trump’s campaign.

PHASE 2? Sara Carter says Dems, Deep State TERRIFIED of info regarding SECOND anti-TRUMP dossier to be released (Video)

(National SentinelSwamp Things: Investigative reporter and Fox News contributor Sara Carter said Saturday on the network’s “Fox & Friends” morning show that a second, more explosive FISA memo detailing abuses of the secretive court is set for release.

“The second memo that the House Intelligence Committee is putting together. We’re still waiting for the Inspector General’s report that is going to be coming out,” she said.

“That’s going to be directed at Andrew McCabe, now former director Andrew McCabe, and others. And I think they’re terrified what’s going to come out here.”

“Here’s what we know. There was a second dossier that was put together by a person named Cody Shearer. He is a very controversial activist, a former reporter who worked with the Clintons in the past,” she added.

“And the FBI was also using this second dossier as part of what they were doing to back up the other dossier by Christopher Steele, an unverified dossier. And we believe Christopher Steele was also sending information to the State Department in bits and snippets,” she continued.

“But I think the most important thing here and one of the things they are going to be looking at very closely are the leaks. There were a number of leaks out unverified information by possibly senior members of the Obama administration,” she also said.

Carter’s reporting on the first Trump dossier and the scandal surrounding it has been exemplary.

In August, Attorney General Jeff Sessions ordered a crackdown on leaking from his department and those under Justice Department control, including the FBI.

“I strongly agree with the president and condemn in the strongest terms the staggering number of leaks undermining the ability of our government to protect this country,” Sessions said. “Criminals who would illegally use their access to our most sensitive information to endanger our national security are, in fact, being investigated, and will be prosecuted.

“I have this message for our friends in the intelligence community: The Department of Justice is open for business, and I have this warning for would-be leakers — don’t do it,” he said, adding that the department was currently reviewing policies and statutes regarding “media subpoenas.”

“We respect the important role the press plays, and we’ll give them respect, but it’s not unlimited,” Sessions noted.

“They cannot place lives at risk with impunity. We must balance the press’ role with protecting our national security and the lives of those who serve in the intelligence community, the Armed Forces, and all law-abiding Americans.”

House Intel chair Nunes exposes Comey’s big DOSSIER LIE; challenges him to RE-TESTIFY before his committee

(National SentinelSelf-Defense:  House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., defended his panel’s release of the scandalous FISA memo and disputed former FBI Director James Comey’s criticism of it.

During a Fox News interview with newsman Brett Baier, Nunes also extended an invitation to the fired former FBI director to reappear before the Intelligence Committee to answer new questions about the so-called “Trump dossier,” a political opposition document Comey and others within the Obama administration misrepresented as legitimate intelligence before the FISA court in order to get a surveillance warrant so they could spy on a President Donald J. Trump campaign figure, Carter Page.

Nunes was also highly critical of the politicized Obama-era FBI, Justice Department and State Department, which he compared to a “banana republic.”

“Mr. Comey had a chance in January, February, March, April…all the way til June (2016) to come clean about who for the [falacious anti-Trump dossier],” said Nunes, according to this transcript.

“He was asked about it in January [2017] and he said very clearly that he knew that it was Republicans who started the dossier — which was a lie — and then when asked and probed further, ‘Well, who finished the dossier?’ he didn’t know,” Nunes continued.

“Now maybe he was lying, maybe he didn’t know. But both seem a problem,” Nunes added. “So Mr. Comey is welcome to come back, tell us when he learned that the Democratic Party and the Hillary Clinton campaign paid for the dossier.

“He’s welcome to come back and share that information, but I think the American people understand that the FBI should not go to secret courts using information that was paid for by the Democrats to open up investigations and get warrants on people of the other political party,” Nunes said.

“That the type of stuff that happens in banana republics.”

The OBAMA factor in the FISA memo scandal: AG Lynch signed off on ALL requests to spy on Team TRUMP; Prez likely BRIEFED about the spying

analysis
By J. D. Heyes, editor-in-chief

(National SentinelFISA Corruption: More information continues to be revealed and released following Friday’s publication of the scandal-filled FISA memo.

It has now become clear that there is a direct link from the FISA approval process to the former president of the United States, Barack Obama.

As ABC News reported:

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Courtcommonly referred to as the “FISA Court,” is a secret tribunal with legal authority to grant (or deny) warrants for electronic surveillance against would-be spies or terrorists.

The court — made up of 11 federal judges, serving 7-year terms and selected by the chief justice of the Supreme Court — meets in private, sometimes in the middle of the night. FISA targets are highly classified.

More than a thousand applications for electronic surveillance, all signed by the attorney general, are submitted each year, and the vast majority are approved.

The Obama administration said after President Donald J. Trump claimed he was “wiretapped” by his predecessor March 2017, “A cardinal rule of the Obama administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice. As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”

But changes made to the original Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 — via the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (and renewed in December 2012) give presidents and the intelligence community much more latitude when it comes to surveillance of “foreign” persons.

As explained by Yale Law professor Jack Balkin in 2009:

The FISA Amendments Act of 2008, effectively gives the President – now President Obama – the authority to run surveillance programs similar in effect to the warrantless surveillance program [secretly implemented by George Bush in late 2001]. That is because New FISA no longer requires individualized targets in all surveillance programs. Some programs may be ‘vacuum cleaner’ programs that listen to a great many different calls (and read a great many e-mails) without any requirement of a warrant directed at a particular person as long as no US person is directly targeted as the object of the program.

As the Brookings Institute noted in a policy paper arguing for the Trump administration to renew legislation reauthorizing Section 702 of the FISA Act, which clarifies warrant requirements of the Act, information gathered via FISA warrants “sometimes known as PRISM, comprises a large part of the President’s Daily Brief.”

If you can believe that Obama’s attorney general — the one who spoke with the former president-husband of a suspect currently under investigation for Espionage Act violations (Hillary Clinton) — would not have informed the head of the Executive Branch that his intelligence community was spying on a rival presidential campaign, well, okay.

But then, that information very probably was included in the President’s Daily Intelligence Brief.

There’s more; Brookings’ policy paper arguing on behalf of maintaining Sect. 702 also noted this important distinction:

We often think about 702 as an NSA authority, but it is also to a significant degree an FBI authority. Thus, the person and the integrity of the FBI director is critically important to the integrity of the program.

We now know, thanks to the release of the FISA memo on Friday, that fired FBI Director James Comey was involved in approving the FISA warrants used to spy on Trump campaign foreign policy advisor Carter Page over his alleged “ties” to Russia (foreign intelligence targets). As Fox News reported, “The memo stated that then-FBI Director Comey signed three FISA applications for [Trump campaign foreign policy advisor Carter] Page and McCabe signed one.”

Comey has testified before Congress that he had no idea the so-called “Trump dossier” used as justification for the FISA spy warrant against Page was bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton’s campaign — that it was a political, not intelligence, document. As House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said on Saturday, either Comey’s telling the truth or he’s lying — either way that’s a problem.

Given all of this, how likely is it that Obama — whose FBI director and AG were heavily involved in securing the FISA warrant (information included in daily presidential briefs) — really didn’t know that Trump’s campaign was under surveillance?
