(National Sentinel) Constitution: If you’ve been following the latest news and information on the attempt to assassinate GOP lawmakers in northern Virginia last week by James. T. Hodgkinson, the far-Left maniac driven to act on his Republican hate, you know that it didn’t take long for the subject of gun control to come up.
Within hours of the shooting, longtime DNC bag man-turned Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe made sure to bring it up – right before he claimed he did not want to bring it up, a point on which one reporter called him out.
Claiming there are “too many guns on the street,” McAuliffe then proceeded to botch gun-related statistics by claiming there “we lose 93 million Americans a day to gun violence” – a figure he quickly revised to “93” after being corrected by a reporter.
“This is a very serious issue,” he said, recalling the recent “senseless” murder of a Virginia state trooper.
McAuliffe said “there are too many guns on the street” but then said the issue shouldn’t be raised today.
A reported then remarked, “If it’s not the day for it, why are you bringing it up?”
We all know why: Because for far-Left Democrats, the Second Amendment should not exist.
Except that it does. And a number of GOP lawmakers have a far different take on gun control following the critical wounding of No. 3 Republican Steve Scalise of Louisiana and four others last week: They’d like to see a lot less of it in Washington, D.C.

Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) had introduced the D.C. Personal Protection Reciprocity Act on May 15, which would permit individuals with a concealed carry license from their home state to carry a firearm in D.C.
Virginia allows individuals to open carry at 18 without a permit and concealed carry at 21 with a permit, but D.C.’s tighter gun-control laws make it nearly impossible to carry within the District limits.
“After the horrific shooting at the Republican Congressional Baseball practice, there will likely be calls for special privileges to protect politicians,” Massie said. “Our reaction should instead be to protect the right of all citizens guaranteed in the Constitution: the right to self-defense. I do not want to extend a special privilege to politicians, because the right to keep and bear arms is not a privilege, it is a God-given right protected by our Constitution.
“To ensure public safety, we need to repeal laws that keep good guys from carrying guns, since not everyone has a personal police detail,” Massie continued. “The right to keep and bear arms is the common person’s first line of defense in these situations, and it should never be denied.”
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), who was also on the field last week during the shooting, said good guys should never be prevented from obtaining and carrying a firearm.
“The only chance we had was that the shots were returned by the Capitol Hill Police,” Rand Paul said, according to NBC News. “Had they not been there it would have been a massacre, because there’s no escaping a guy you know if he’s got several hundred bullets and we had no weapons and no place to hide.”
Having only baseball bats to defend against someone with a gun will cause you to rethink the foolishness of policies aimed at creating more victims by denying people their [supposedly] constitutionally-protected right to self-defense.
