Trump signs order creating panel to investigate voter fraud

(National Sentinel) Elections: Fulfilling another campaign promise, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order Thursday establishing a White House committee to look into voter fraud.

Naturally, the Marxist Left went into full meltdown – again – describing the order in usual terms, calling it “racist” and “bigoted” and etc.

Also, interwoven into most Washington establishment reporting on the order is the narrative that voter fraud is a “myth” (Sen. Bernie Sanders’ description) that doesn’t really exist, and all of Trump’s prior claims that it does are “unproven” and “unsubstantiated.”

The Associated Press:

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday launching a commission to review alleged voter fraud and voter suppression, building upon his unsubstantiated claims that millions of people voted illegally in the 2016 election.

Trump has alleged, without evidence, that 3 million to 5 million people voted illegally in his 2016 election against Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Yes, well, the AP and the rest of the establishment press doesn’t want you to know that there have been numerous incidents of voter fraud that, when taken in sum, very well could wind up being “millions” of people across a nation with hundreds of millions of people on voter registration lists, many of them outdated.

It’s becoming well-known that the only political party universally opposed to 1) investigating voter fraud and; 2) strengthening voter ID laws so we can ensure those who  do vote have a right to – is the Democratic Party and its allied Left-wing groups.

What does that tell you?

On that note, the AP did mention way down in its story that the vote fraud commission Trump has empaneled is bipartisan – there are Republicans and Democrats on board, which was smart given that voter fraud isn’t a partisan issue, it’s an American issue.

After AG Sessions ordered this, states began pushing new voter ID measures

(NationalSentinel) Elections: Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered the Justice Department to withdraw from a lawsuit in Texas challenging that state’s voter identification laws, an action that has led more states to now consider new ID measures to strengthen voter integrity.

As reported by The Daily Caller, Sessions’ decision is a reversal from previous Justice Department policy; the Obama administration spent six years battling Texas over its voter ID law.

The DC noted further:

Officials from the Justice Department contacted liberal activist groups on board with the lawsuit against Texas, including the Brennan Center for Justice, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the NAACP, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund about the change in policy at the DOJ, Salon reported.

Texas’s Republican majority legislature passed one of the strictest voter ID laws in the country in 2011 that mandated voters to show a driver’s license, passport or other government-issued photo ID prior to casting a ballot. The Obama administration Justice Department managed to block the law in 2013 after the department sued the state. A federal appeals court later ruled in 2016 the law discriminated against minorities without IDs and the legislation needed to be loosened.

The Texas legislature changed the law to abide by the court’s rulings and had unveiled it a week before the DoJ decision.

Now that the case has been dropped, more than a dozen other states are considering similar changes to their voter ID requirements.

While Democrats repeatedly state that voter fraud is non-existent, they seem to be the party more interested in disassembling laws aimed at ensuring electoral integrity.

States pile on Ohio lawsuit seeking to restore integrity to voter registration lists

(NationalSentinel) Elections: Democrats have long discovered that one way to give their party a boost on election day is to attack voter identification and integrity laws that were designed to ensure free and fair balloting. But the state of Ohio – along with 15 other states – are now challenging a 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that somehow found scrubbing voter registration lists of outdated information, dead people and other discrepancies – even in accordance with federal law – is unconstitutional.

As reported by Lifezette, 15 states have joined Ohio’s suit and 14 filed an amicus brief on Monday in support of Ohio’s challenge.

“Keeping the state’s voter registry up to date is crucial to ensuring the integrity of our elections,” West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, whose state joined the amicus brief, said in a prepared statement released Monday.

“The process used in West Virginia and Ohio is important to that effort and fully consistent with federal law,” Morrisey continued. “We support this effort to make sure our secretary of state has the tools he needs to maintain free and fair elections.”

Lifezette:

Election integrity watchdogs say the 6th District ruling flies in the face of clear federal law and previous decisions from other courts upholding the scrubbing of voter rolls as constitutional.

“We originally filed an amicus brief in favor of Ohio at the district court level,” Logan Churchwell, spokesman for the Public Interest Legal Foundation, told LifeZette. “At the time, and still today, we argue that the state is certainly justified in its actions and pursuing the case to [the Supreme Court] for [two] reasons,” he said.

First, “federal law expressly allows officials to consider voter inactivity when performing list maintenance actions.” Secondly, “other federal judges have confirmed that processes identical to Ohio’s are lawful.”

In September, the 6th Circuit Court disagreed with an Ohio court’s ruling that scrubbing voter registration roles to ensure accuracy and timeliness was an unconstitutional violation of the National Voting Rights Act (NVRA). The court came to this goofy decision after Left-wing activist groups argued that the scrubbing unfairly disadvantages ethnic minorities, poor people, and the homeless, which is complete nonsense.

Yet, this is a fight that is worth having, and it now appears headed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Democrats pay lip service to the “free and fair voting” mantra, but what they’re really trying to do is make voter ID and confirmation so difficult or even non-existent that people who aren’t permitted legally to vote – illegal immigrants, felons, non-registrants – will be able to cast ballots like everyone else who complies with voting requirements.

The question for the high court is this: Do we want to be able to verify that citizens are who they say they are and are in compliance with voting requirements or not?

If there’s no voter fraud, why are Democrats building massive effort to combat voter ID laws?

(NationalSentinel) Whenever the subject of voter ID comes up, there is a Democrat close behind shouting like a parrot, There’s no voter fraud! There’s no voter fraud!

The subject came up again throughout the last election, when then-GOP nominee Donald J. Trump claimed that the election could be “rigged” because there is likely voter fraud on a scale most Americans wouldn’t believe, barring evidence.

Even after he became president, Trump has continued to discuss the issue – not from a political standpoint but from a law-and-order standpoint. He believes that perhaps as many as 3-5 million illegal votes – from people voting more than once; from illegal aliens voting; from  dead people voting, and so on – and he wants to get to the bottom of it.

That’s why he’s tasked his administration with investigating the issue. And frankly, that has Alt-Left Democrats freaking out because they are obviously afraid the president and his task force are going to find out their dirty little secret: There is massive voter fraud and it mostly benefits them.

Otherwise, why gird to do legal battle with the administration over the issue of voter identification? As reported by the Washington Free Beacon:

Democrats are moving swiftly to build a large network to push back against voter identification laws after President Donald Trump claimed illegal immigrants gave Hillary Clinton the edge in the popular vote and called for a “major investigation” into potential voter fraud.

Democratic-aligned groups have since rolled out what amounts to a large infrastructure to oppose any potential Republican efforts to enact further voter ID laws.

Let America Vote, a nonprofit that filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission Monday, has been established by former Democratic Missouri Secretary of State and failed Senate candidate Jason Kander. The group says they are dedicated to “winning the public debate over voter suppression in the United States.”

“Voting in our country has never been easy, and unfortunately it’s never been guaranteed for everyone,” Kander said in a press release. “Let America Vote will make the case for voting rights by exposing the real motivations of those who favor voter suppression laws. For the first time, politicians intent on denying certain Americans the right to vote will first have to consider the political consequences.”

Included on the board of the new organization: Josh Earnest, President Obama’s former White House Press Secretary; Martin Luther King Jr. III, a human rights activist; Stephanie Schriock, the president of EMILY’s List; and Jon Favreau, a former speechwriter for Obama.

First and foremost, you have to think that the Democratic Party has ceased to be a national party in large part because, rather than being progressive and coward-thinking, its leaders keep fighting old battles. Today it has never been easier to vote in the United States and, in fact, it’s easier to vote than it is to get on an airplane, get into a federal courtroom or even the U.S. Capitol Building. But here we have today’s rising Democratic starts re-fighting settled issues, as though the Civil War, Women’s Suffrage, the Voting Rights Act and the civil rights acts of the last two centuries never happened.

Secondly, let’s call this effort what it is – one to get as many non-citizens as possible to vote. That generally means the millions of illegal aliens currently residing in our country, though many of them likely won’t be here for much longer if President Donald Trump’s efforts to enforce U.S. immigration law are followed through.

Voter ID laws are smart, they make sense, and in our country, thanks to Democrat chicanery, they are necessary.
