Trump in Davos declares: ‘America OPEN for BUSINESS’ as Wall Street has another RECORD day

(National SentinelRock Star: President Donald J. Trump continued taking the World Economic Forum in Davos by storm with a speech on Friday declaring “America is open for business” while encouraging investment in the U.S. from around the world.

“Now is the best time to bring your money, your jobs, your businesses to America,” he said, mentioning the dramatic reduction in regulations and his and Republicans’ successful tax cuts. “The world is witnessing the resurgence of a strong and prosperous America.”

While encouraging new investment, Trump nevertheless reiterated his “America first” vision, saying that “fair” trade deals could still be made.

“We will enforce our trade laws and restore integrity to the trading system. Only by insisting on fair and reciprocal trade can we create a system that works not just for the United States but for all nations,” Trump said.

“The United States will no longer turn a blind eye to unfair trade practices,” he said. “We cannot have free and open trade if some countries exploit the system at the expense of others.”

In particular, according to the White House:

  • America is committed to global growth and prosperity. As the world’s largest economy, the United States has a particular responsibility to get things right domestically: When the U.S. economy grows, so does the world’s.
  • The Trump Administration supports free and open trade—but it must be fair and reciprocal trade, too. The global economy cannot flourish unless all countries follow the rules and are held responsible when they don’t.
  • Leaders must reform—not abandon—the international economic system. America’s goal is to improve that system by making it more accountable and efficient, which will make the global economy work for all sovereign nations.

“The President’s message is very much the same here as it will be [in Davos],” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said ahead of Trump’s visit. “He welcomes the opportunity to go there and advance his America First agenda with world leaders.”

Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a new record, up 125 points to 26,523.23, while both the NASDAQ and S&P 500 were also up.

Deep State DESPERATE: Leaks that Trump once ordered MUELLER fired as FISA memo drama heats up; Prez, in Davos, calls it what it IS

(National SentinelFake News: A report by The New York Times on Thursday claimed that President Donald J. Trump ordered White House counsel Don McGhan to fire special counsel Robert Mueller last summer, but that he refused to do so and said he would resign instead.

The paper noted:

The West Wing confrontation marks the first time Mr. Trump is known to have tried to fire the special counsel. Mr. Mueller learned about the episode in recent months as his investigators interviewed current and former senior White House officials in his inquiry into whether the president obstructed justice.

Amid the first wave of news media reports that Mr. Mueller was examining a possible obstruction case, the president began to argue that Mr. Mueller had three conflicts of interest that disqualified him from overseeing the investigation, two of the people said.

First, he claimed that a dispute years ago over fees at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., had prompted Mr. Mueller, the F.B.I. director at the time, to resign his membership. The president also said Mr. Mueller could not be impartial because he had most recently worked for the law firm that previously represented the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Finally, the president said, Mr. Mueller had been interviewed to return as the F.B.I. director the day before he was appointed special counsel in May.

After receiving the president’s order to fire Mr. Mueller, the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, refused to ask the Justice Department to dismiss the special counsel, saying he would quit instead, the people said.

From Davos, Switzerland, where the president is attempting to represent the United States on a world economic stage, Trump dismissed the report as more “fake news” from the Times, which has a history of publishing reports about the president and his administration that have turned out to be false.

The Times’ report is not the first claiming that Trump was seeking to fire Mueller.

Before Christmas, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) sat down with KQED Newsroom and claimed President Trump was soon going to fire Mueller.

The California lawmaker then told KQED Newsroom, “The rumor on the Hill when I left yesterday was that the president was going to make a significant speech at the end of next week. And on December 22nd, when we are out of D.C., he was going to fire…Robert Mueller.”

That claim turned out to be false, as Mueller remains on the job.

Investigative journalist Mike Cernovich voiced his skepticism about the Times report on Twitter, saying it was a purposeful distraction from breaking news surrounding alleged illegality involving Obama-era FBI and Justice Department operatives who may have abused the FISA court to improperly spy on Trump’s campaign.

“50,000 “missing” texts are evidence admissible in a court of law. The ‘story’ about Trump – 4 unnamed sources (who had the same hearsay from one alleged source) – wouldn’t be used in any court. The story, as per usual, is leaked by deep state to distract from their corruption,” he tweeted.

https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/956732189055492096

Also, Sara A. Carter, Fox News contributor and an investigative journalist with Circa News, said sources have told her the contents of the memo are so “explosive” they could spell a quick end to Mueller’s probe of the Trump campaign and transition team.

Trump STORMS Davos: ‘Invest in AMERICA’ speech will turn prez into ROCK star

(National SentinelAmerica First: President Donald J. Trump arrived at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday, set to deliver a speech on Friday that will echo his “America First” policy approach.

Trump noted that his administration wants “peace and prosperity,” while also offering better trade deals in his appeal for companies to invest in the United States.

“I think the real message is we want great prosperity and we want great peace,” Trump — who was clearly in his element among business and economic leaders — said after holding back-to-back meetings with British Prime Minister Theresa May and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As for investing in America, “It’s been going really well. A lot of people are coming back to the United States,” he said. “We are seeing tremendous investment. And today’s been a very exciting day, very great day and great for our country.”

White House officials noted that Trump will give a full-throated “America first” message to conference attendees during his highlighted and anticipated speech Friday, but the reiterated that the principle doesn’t mean the U.S. won’t engage globally.

“America First’ does mean working with the rest of the world,’ said Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, who is leading the largest U.S. delegation ever to attend the exclusive gathering. “It just means that President Trump is looking out for American workers and American interests, no different than he expects other leaders would look out for their own.”

The Dow Jones Industrial Average initially rose 200 points after Trump’s well-received arrival in Davos, but then fell to around 167 points later in the day. Still, the index reached another record high.

Also, Trump’s approval rating popped to 45 percent on additional good economic news that the U.S. economy could hit a “trifecta” of 3 percent growth for three consecutive quarters — something that hasn’t happened since 2005.

FBI now investigating NEW evidence obtained by Australian journalist that Clinton Foundation ‘mishandled MILLIONS of dollars’

(National SentinelAustralian Connection: The FBI has launched another probe into possible Clinton Foundation malfeasance using evidence given to the bureau by a former Australian police officer-turned-investigative journalist.

As reported by Lifezette, former police detective Michael Smith was asked to provide the FBI with details regarding numerous allegations of mishandling millions of dollars that were contributed to the Clinton Foundation by the Australian government.

“I have been asked to provide the FBI with further and better particulars about allegations regarding improper donations to the CF funded by Australian taxpayers,” Michael Smith told LifeZette.

The news site noted further:

At the center of Smith’s complaints are former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and multiple Australian government officials, including senior diplomat Alexander Downer, that government’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Downer hit U.S. headlines recently when he was reported to have told the FBI of a May 2016 conversation he had with George Papadopoulos, then a campaign aide to President Donald Trump. Downer told U.S. law enforcement officials that Papadopoulos told him Russia had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.

The New York Times claimed in a Dec. 30, 2017, story that the information Downer gave the FBI was a principal factor in the bureau’s decision to investigate allegations of collusion between Russian government interests and the Trump campaign.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI last year.

As The National Sentinel noted, the Times story was criticized by a number of other media outlets who say that the infamous “Trump dossier,” not a minor campaign figure, was what the FBI used to launch its investigation. A number of Republican lawmakers agree with that conclusion, citing evidence congressional panels have amassed in their investigations of the alleged collusion.

In any event, as Lifezette reported further:

The materials Smith is giving the FBI focus on a 2006 memorandum of understanding between the Australian government and the Clinton Foundation’s Clinton HIV/AIDs Initiative (CHAI). Smith claims the foundation received a “$25M financial advantage dishonestly obtained by deception” as a result of actions by Bill Clinton and Downer, who was then Australia’s minister of foreign affairs.

In addition, Smith is providing evidence he believes shows “corrupt October 2006 backdating of false tender advertisements purporting to advertise the availability of a $15 million contract to provide HIV/AIDS services in Papua New Guinea on behalf of the Australian government after an agreement was already in place to pay the Clinton Foundation and/or associates.”

Smith describes a third complaint as “the $10 million financial advantage dishonestly obtained by deception between April 1, 2008, and Sept. 25, 2008, at Washington, D.C., New York, New York, and Canberra Australia involving an MOU between the Australian government, the “Clinton Climate Initiative,” and the purported “Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute Inc.”

The ONE THING you CAN get in collapsing socialist Venezuela

(National SentinelNot Paradise: The ‘Bolivarian revolution’ is not going so well in once-prosperous Venezuela, as the country’s economy continues to collapse while ordinary people have more and more difficulty simply finding basic necessities.

However, there is one industry that is thriving there, and it’s not the country’s vast petroleum sector: It’s plastic surgery.

Many patients seeking procedures travel to the Venezuelan border town of Puerto Ordaz to have liposuction, breast augmentation and corresponding buttocks surgeries done because it is cheaper.

Brazilians are especially flocking there; in their country, procedures like these cost upwards of $9,000, but across the border, the price is closer to $3,000, Breitbart News reported.

The procedures are cheaper due to high demand and the massive devaluation of Venezuela’s currency, the bolívar.

“Most of my patients are Brazilians,” nurse Maia, who runs a retreat named the Powerful Women of Dr. Jorge Balekji, said in an interview with the BBC. “They come here to realize their dream of plastic surgery. In our country, it is very expensive.”

Venezuela has one of the world’s highest rates of plastic surgery, with mostly women undergoing procedures.

“Today, I feel like the happiest woman on earth, with these 400ml silicone implants placed in me,” added Vanessa Faria Silva, a surgery patient. “I love my breasts. … My self-esteem is high, and I am a happy woman.”

However, there are drawbacks. Venezuela is short of virtually everything, and now that includes breast implants.

Trump Taunts North Korea’s Kim: ‘My nuke button BIGGER than yours!’

(National SentinelTweet War: President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday tweeted a warning to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that the U.S. nuclear arsenal was vastly superior to his, and that it was fully capable of destroying his country.

In his tweet, Trump also took a swipe at living conditions in the hermit nation, which are purportedly bad for a majority of the population, especially when it comes to Kim feeding his people.

“North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un just stated that the ‘Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.’ Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!” the president tweeted.

Trump’s threat comes following a New Year’s Day speech from Kim to his nation, in which he warned, “The U.S. should know that the button for nuclear weapons is on my table.”

He added that the U.S. can “never start a war against me and our country,” insisting his nuclear weapons are now a reality, not merely a threat.

However, the UK’s Daily Mail reported, despite the heated rhetoric, North Korea announced it has reactivated hotline with South Korea to discuss attendance at the upcoming Winter Olympics to be hosted by the South.

The hotline was shut down by the North in February 2016 as retaliation against the closing of Kaesong, a border factory town that was jointly operated by the two Koreas.

Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said that Washington would not take seriously any talks between the North and South that Kim proposed during his recent speech if they did not result in Pyongyang abandoning its nuclear weapons.

She also warned the North against future missile tests, adding that U.S. intelligence believes Pyongyang is preparing another one.

“I hope that doesn’t happen. But if it does, we must bring even tougher measures to bear against the North Korean regime,” she said.

As for Kim’s threat about the U.S. not being able to attack his country, it’s possible he was referring to a directive issued by the Chinese Communist Party, or CCP, that pledged further support to the North Korean regime.

On Tuesday the Washington Free Beacon reported that the secret directive had been drawn up in September. The plans calls on China “to bolster the North Korean government with increased aid and military support, including new missiles, if Pyongyang halts further nuclear tests, according to an internal party document,” the site reported.

It also states that if the “U.S. rushes to war” against North Korea, “our country, Russia, and others will absolutely not look on the chaotic situation on the Korean Peninsula without taking any action.”

The document also includes a stern warning to Pyongyang that failure to end its nuclear testing would likely result in disaster for Kim and his regime.

Dershowitz: Obama ‘EMBOLDENED’ authoritarian Iranian regime; Sees world of difference between him and TRUMP

(National SentinelPolicy: Constitutional law professor Alan Dershowitz, who has historically supported the Democratic Party, said during an interview Monday he sees a wide difference between President Donald J. Trump and President Obama when it comes to Iran.

“President Obama made it clear that he was going to stand behind the Iranian regime,” Dershowitz told Fox News‘ “Fox & Friends” morning show.

He added that Obama emboldened Iranian leaders with a failed strategy to curb their nuclear development.

“He was going to send them lots and lots of money. Of course some of it was their own money, but still they used it to foment terrorism, to export terrorism around the world,” Dershowitz added.

He said Obama’s approach — appeasement — stood in stark contrast to the Trump White House, which is supportive of those currently protesting the regime.

“I think President Trump has indicated that he will not stand behind the Iranian regime. The Iranian regime is failing. The people there are hungry despite the infusion of cash,” the retired law professor said.

Dershowitz and the show’s hosts began to discuss the current protests in Iran, which are the largest since the 2009 “Green Movement” — protests that the Obama administration also did not support as it was secretly opening talks for the eventual nuclear agreement.

The law professor, who has written extensively on the Middle East, said that while the Trump administration is supportive of the protesters, there is only so much the U.S. can do.

“But this is something that will happen in Iran. The United States will only be able to have a limited role and hopefully it will be a positive role,” he said.

He added that he believes the time is right in Iran for democratic reforms.

“I think the president can also try to engender international support for the real people of Iran. Look, Iran is the most secular, democratically-oriented group of people in the Middle East. They have been repressed for so many years by the Ayatollahs,” he said.

“If they had their wishes, if they had a genuine election, they would overthrow this regime of religious thugs and substitute a real democracy. They’ve never had a real democracy, but they had the Shah and the Shah was a lot better for America than the Ayatollahs.”

The president has taken to Twitter to denounce the Iranian regime and express his support for the Iranian people.

“Iran is failing at every level despite the terrible deal made with them by the Obama Administration. The great Iranian people have been repressed for many years. They are hungry for food & for freedom. Along with human rights, the wealth of Iran is being looted. TIME FOR CHANGE!” he wrote.

PATHETIC: Obama advisors SHILL for Iran during protests; tell Trump to ‘be quiet’ about them

(National Sentinel‘Foreign’ Policy: Former advisors to President Barack Obama have waded into the the debate over President Donald J. Trump’s comments regarding the widening and deadly protests in Iran, backing the regime they struck a nuclear deal with over the policies of the current commander-in-chief.

Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice tweeted a New York Times op-ed by former Obama aide Philip Gordon, “How Can Trump Help Iran’s Protesters? Be Quiet.”

The author of the op-ed argued that by supporting the protests while taking steps to end the Iran nuclear deal will only help the regime to delegitimize its internal opponents.

In addition, Rob Malley, who had once been dropped from the Obama campaign for meeting with the Hamas terrorist group but found his way back into the administration during negotiations with Iran, also praised Gordon’s op-ed.

Former Obama Secretary of State John Kerry, who helped seal the Iran nuclear deal, also praised the Iranian regime, which has now killed at least 20 protestors, according to reports.

“With humility about how little we know about what’s happening inside Iran, this much is clear: it’s an Iranian moment and not anyone else’s. But the rights of people to protest peacefully and voice their aspirations are universal and governments everywhere should respect that,” he tweeted.

Also, former Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, who ran an “echo chamber” of administration-friendly pundits to sell the Iran deal to the American public via the media, criticized Americans who think the U.S. should encourage the protests.

“The Iranian people are rightfully demanding dignity, less corruption, more opportunity, and greater control over their lives. In looking at US twitter, it seems lost on too many that this is about what Iranians want for Iran, and not about us,” he tweeted.

As the protests began in earnest over the weekend, Trump tweeted his support for those angry with the theocratic regime.

Critics of the Obama officials noted as well that the former president and his administration refused to support Iran’s “Green Revolution” in 2009. Obama said that “we respect Iranian sovereignty and want to avoid the United States being the issue inside of Iran.”

Noted Breitbart News: “Obama was more concerned with preserving the possibility of an eventual deal on Iran’s nuclear program than he was in removing the Iranian regime as a strategic threat or in standing up for human rights. Critics charge that Obama missed a golden opportunity.”

Trump’s FIRST tweet of 2018: ‘No More’ aid to terrorist-harboring PAKISTAN

(National SentinelAssistance Abuse: On his first tweet of the new year, President Donald J. Trump announced a major foreign policy shift: The U.S. would no longer send monetary assistance to Pakistan as long as the country continued to harbor terrorists.

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” the president tweeted.

It was not clear what “no more” means, whether it is a partial or full suspension of funds or whether it is temporary and/or conditions-based.

If the announcement means a full termination of U.S. foreign aid for Pakistan becomes official policy, then that is a much more dramatic step than merely withholding $255 million in military assistance to the country, which is reportedly under consideration.

Trump’s tweet comes after Pakistan refused to let U.S. officials interrogate a captured terrorist linked to the hostage-taking Haqqani Network.

In August, President Trump said the “next pillar” of his strategy for battling terrorism would involve a “change in our approach to Pakistan.” Then, he accused the country of giving “safe haven to agents of chaos, violence, and terror.”

“We can no longer be silent about Pakistan’s safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond,” the president said. “These killers need to know they have nowhere to hide – that no place is beyond the reach of American arms.”

The administration withheld $50 million in funding to Pakistan over the summer after accusing Islamabad of doing too little to interdict and battle the Taliban and Haqqani Network.

As Breitbart News reported further:

The Pakistani military rescued a Canadian-American family held hostage for years by the Haqqanis in October. Concerns have been raised that even this rescue might have been the result of a deal between the Pakistanis and the militant network, which has long been suspected of enjoying special favors and protection from elements of the Pakistani security apparatus. The prisoner Pakistan refused to allow the United States to interview was tied to the kidnapping of this Canadian-American family.

Pakistani military officials have recently warned the U.S. against taking any unilateral actions against suspected terrorists and Taliban members inside the country.

The U.S. has long engaged suspected al Qaeda and Taliban figures inside Pakistan, mostly with drones strikes.

Top Marine general: ‘There’s a WAR coming’

(National SentinelWW3: The top Marine commander told about 300 personnel in Norway on Thursday that “there’s a war coming,” so their presence in eastern Europe is vital.

Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Ronald Green, on their annual Christmas tour, visited a Marine contingent at Vaernes Garrison in the Nordic nation and described the strategic role that the small unit is fulfilling.

They also pointed out that a peacetime mission can suddenly change into a combat mission in an instant if circumstances change.

Neller said Marines should be ready for combat at any time, predicting a “big-ass fight” on the horizon.

“I hope I’m wrong, but there’s a war coming,” Neller said. ” … You’re in a fight here, an informational fight, a political fight, by your presence.”

He added that he expects the Pacific region — a veiled reference to North Korea and possibly China — as well as Russia would be the U.S. military’s and the Marine Corps’ primary focus in the coming years.

Green was equally stark.

“Just remember why you’re here,” he said. “They’re watching. Just like you watch them, they watch you. We’ve got 300 Marines up here; we could go from 300 to 3,000 overnight. We could raise the bar.”

Most Norwegians generally support the U.S. presence, but Russia has voiced its opposition frequently, Military.com reported.

Trump, UN Amb. Haley, SHUT DOWN all the nations who voted AGAINST prez’s Jerusalem decision

(National SentinelGlobal Mistake: U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned countries who voted against sanctioning the Trump administration’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, saying it is likely going to cost them dearly in the future.

In a 128-9 vote, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution, drafted by Egypt, that expresses “deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem.”

The resolution states that Jerusalem’s final status be negotiated between Israel and the Palestinians.

In addition, it affirms that any decisions and actions that “purport to have altered, the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem” — a thinly veiled reference to President Donald Trump’s recognition — are “null and void.”

The rebuke, Haley said, was merely indicative of the UN’s anti-Israel bias. And she promised that it would have far-reaching consequences for those nations who voted against President Donald J. Trump’s decision.

“The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation,” Haley said.

“We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations. And we will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit,” she added.

Trump also downplayed the rebuke, saying it will save the U.S. “a lot” of money.

He suggested Wednesday that a general assembly vote against his Jerusalem decision could affect “billions of dollars” in U.S. foreign aid.

“Let them vote against us, we’ll save a lot,” he said. “We don’t care. This isn’t like it used to be where they could vote against you and then you pay them hundreds of millions of dollars and nobody knows what they’re doing.”

Trump said his decision was merely a reflection of reality and that Israel has already long declared the city as its capital.

Also, Congress passed and President Bill Clinton signed legislation in the mid-1990s giving U.S. presidents the authority to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, but none before Trump had done so.

Trump planning major trade announcement: ‘We’ve made some very big steps’

(National SentinelTrade: President Donald J. Trump is expected to make a major announcement on trade as he approaches the end of his first Asian tour.

“We’ve made some very big steps with respect to trade, far bigger than anything you know, in addition to about $300 billion in sales to various companies, including China,” Trump said in Manila, Philippines Monday.

“We have deficits with almost everybody. Those deficits are going to be cut very quickly and very substantially.”

Improving trade for U.S. businesses and corporations has been a primary focus of Trump’s during his trip.

“The current trade imbalance is not acceptable,” Trump said last week during his address at the Asia-Pacific Economic cooperation forum in Vietnam.

“From this day forward, we will compete on a fair and equal basis. We are not going to let the United States be taken advantage of anymore,” he added.

Limbaugh: ‘The one moment during Trump’s China trip the mainstream media has refused to report’

(National SentinelBlackout: The legacy media has gone out of its way to embarrass President Donald J. Trump during his first trip to Asia, even purposefully misreporting incidents as diplomatic faux pas.

In addition to misreporting, the mainstream media is also ignoring certain events and occurrences in an effort to portray Trump’s visit in a certain, negative light, and talk radio legend Rush Limbaugh pointed out one such incident Thursday.

The host uploaded a picture to his show’s Facebook page of Trump and first lady Melania Trump after they climbed down the steps from Air Force One.

The picture shows the president and his wife being greeted by a number of children who are waving Chinese and American flags.

Limbaugh surmises that the legacy media isn’t showing the photo because it demonstrates that Trump and the first lady visibly happy to have gotten such a warm welcome in China.

“There’s not a single network that televised all of the Chinese children waving American flags to welcome President Trump,” Limbaugh wrote.

The conservative talk giant even jabbed pro football, saying that there were more Chinese kids waving U.S. flags that NFL players.

“They’re happy to see President Trump. There are more ChiCom children waving the American flag than NFL players waving the American flag,” he added.

“Chicom” is Limbaugh’s nickname for “Chinese communists.”

Limbaugh suggested that the legacy media simply did not want to give the appearance of Trump receiving such a warm greeting.

So much winning: Trump delivers as U.S. firms sign 37 major deals in China

(National SentinelTrade & Economics: U.S. firms are signing major deals with Chinese counterparts as part of President Donald J. Trump’s first, historic state visit worth hundreds of billions of dollars to both countries.

As reported by CNBC, the Commerce Department has revealed the list of the 37 major deals signed between U.S. and Chinese companies around President Donald Trump’s trip through Asia.

The total value of the deals is pegged at about $250 billion, the department said.

“Catepillar, Boeing, and Goldman Sachs are just some of the notable names on the list of companies that made deals with China,” CNBC reported.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross praised the president, saying the deals demonstrated how he is successfully building bilateral relations with Beijing, widely considered to be the United States’ biggest strategic competitor in the coming years.

“American businesses are the most innovative in the world and, when given access, can compete with anyone,” Ross said. “I believe these deals can provide a solid foundation for a stronger relationship that is more free, fair, and reciprocal between the U.S. and China.”

“It was a great honor for these [deals] to be witnessed by President Trump and President Xi today,” Ross added. “A special thank you to our CEO delegation for their hard work in support of this historic event.”

China’s trade deficit with the U.S. has been expanding this year. It grew  12.2 percent in October from a year earlier to $26.6 billion. In the first 10 months of the year, the total surplus widened to $223 billion.

Trump honored in China like no foreign leader before him

(National SentinelForeign Policy: President Donald J. Trump was given a welcome by Chinese government officials that no foreign leader has ever received before.

Trump, accompanied by first lady Melania Trump, made history when they dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Forbidden City — an honor not bestowed on any foreign leader since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, according to The Daily Caller.

The first couple toured the city along with Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan.

“China is receiving Trump almost the way the King of Saudi Arabia did,” said Shi Yinhong, an international relations expert at People’s University in Beijing.

China is “giving Trump lots of face, vanities and protocol.”

Trump often criticized China on the campaign trail, citing massive trade imbalances and Beijing’s unwillingness to help reign in North Korea.

But he’s worked hard since taking office to build a cordial relationship with a country most U.S. foreign policy experts believe will be America’s greatest strategic challenge for many years into the future.

“I think we can say that so far, our measures have been relatively successful,” said Wu Xinbo with the Center for American Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai.

The U.S. and Chinese leaders “have established a good working relationship,” he noted further.

The president took to Twitter to thank Xi and the Chinese government.

“On behalf of Melania and I, THANK YOU for an unforgettable afternoon and evening at the Forbidden City in Beijing, President Xi and Madame Peng Liyuan. We are looking forward to rejoining you tomorrow morning!” Trump tweeted.

He added:

“Looking forward to a full day of meetings with President Xi and our delegations tomorrow. THANK YOU for the beautiful welcome China! @FLOTUS Melania and I will never forget it!”

The Forbidden City contains multiple palaces and was home to the imperial ruling family for more than four centuries.

The location was shut down for the Trumps’ visit, though a Peking Opera performance was held as well as dinner, the South China Morning Post reported.

“Xi is going to treat Trump almost like an emperor,” said Ming Wang, a professor of government and politics at George Mason University, who also stated that China “will give Trump an exceptional reception, essentially they’ll try to make Trump happy.”

“The Chinese government know who they’re dealing with,” said Beijing-based historian Jeremiah Jenne. “It’s another in a long line of fairly shrewd moves by the Chinese government and something (Trump is) going to be very impressed with.”
